Noida: Preparations have begun for the Noida Metro to be closed for several days due to Coronavirus infection. On Friday, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) started preparations for running the metro rail and the officials also conducted a mock drill and took stock of it.


Media in-charge of NMRC Sandhya Sharma said that the operation of Noida Metro Rail has been closed till May 31 due to the lockdown. The officials of the Union Urban Development Ministry have been asked to complete the preparations for running the metro. Therefore, on Friday, Noida Metro Rail Corporation officials conducted a mock drill to run the train. Dummy passengers were used in mock drills. Dummy passengers were appealed to follow social distance. Senior police officers were seen controlling the crowd on the platform. Also, passengers riding in the metro were also sitting wearing masks.


Following the instructions of the Urban Development Ministry, NMRC’s operational control officer Ram Mohan Singh inspected all the metro stations. He held a meeting with the officials and other employees and told them what kind of precautions are to be taken during the operation of the metro rail.


He told that now only 50 percent of people will be able to travel in the metro rail and passengers will be allowed to travel in the metro train, keeping in mind the social distance. Stickers have also been placed in relation to travel in Metre. To travel in the metro, it will also be mandatory to wear a mask.
